ASTM A36 vs. ASTM A572 Steel Plates
ASTM A36 and ASTM A572 are two of the most commonly used carbon steel plate grades in construction and engineering.ASTM A36 offers good weldability, machinability, and strength, making it suitable for general structural applications such as bridges, buildings, and machinery parts.
ASTM A572, by contrast, provides higher strength and better performance under load. It is available in several grades, including Grade 50, which is widely used in heavy construction.
The choice between A36 and A572 depends on project requirements. For cost-efficient, standard applications, A36 is appropriate. For projects demanding higher strength and durability, A572 is the preferred option.
