S355J2N-Z35 steel meaning and properties

The meaning of S355J2N-Z35: J2 requires -20℃ impact, N means that it is equivalent to normalizing rolling, not that it must be normalized, it is just a way to name the steel number in the standard, Z35 is the Z direction of the steel plate performance.

S355J2 is a low-alloy high-strength steel, and the executive standard of S355J2 is the European standard: EN10025.

Chemical composition of S355J2N-Z35 steel:
C: 0.15-0.18%, Si: 0.30-0.50%, Mn: 1.30-1.50%, P≤0.015%, S≤0.004%, Cr≤0.30%, Ni≤0.50%, Mo≤0.10%, Cu≤0.30% , V≤0.15%, Nb≤0.05%, Ti≤0.05%, the balance is Fe and inevitable impurities. The thickness used is: 125-150mm.

Mechanical properties of S355J2N-Z35 steel:
Yield strength Rp0.2≥275MPa, tensile strength Rm: 450-600MPa, elongation A≥18%, -20 impact energy KV2≥47J, tensile section shrinkage rate Z≥35% in the thickness direction of the steel plate.
