Advantages of 51CrV4 for substrate

At present, the commonly used steel types for diamond welding saw blade substrates are 75Cr1, 60Mn, 51CrV4, 50Mn2V and 30CrMo.

60Mn is the most common low-end steel grade. Its disadvantages are poor welding performance, large quenching deformation, and prone to quenching soft spots; although 30CrMo has excellent welding performance and toughness, but tempered above 500 ° C, the strength will drop significantly. Fluctuations in tempering furnace conditions can easily lead to a decline in product performance uniformity; 75Cr1 is mainly due to the high carbon mass fraction, and the probability of cracks when welding the cutter head will increase significantly; 50Mn2V has been found in practical application that in hot and humid saline environment (such as sea water), its corrosion resistance is not strong and it is easy to rust.

And 51CrV4 steel, the carbon mass fraction is not high, which belongs to the medium carbon range, it can reduce the probability of high-carbon martensite cracking caused by high-carbon steel cooling too quickly after welding. The high mass fraction of chromium for 51CrV4 steel can strongly delay the phase transformation between pearlite and bainite, it also improves the quenching performance and prevents quenching soft spots. At the same time, the addition of chromium is also beneficial to provide corrosion resistance; the higher the mass fraction of vanadium, it can not only refine the grain, but also improve the hardness and wear resistance of 51CrV4 steel.

From the perspective of chemical composition, we can find that 51CrV4 steel is very suitable for the matrix material of diamond welding saw blades.
