Brief Introduction of 51CrV4 Steel

51CrV4 is a high-strength steel suitable for quenched and tempered springs, which combines the characteristics of springs with excellent wear resistance and impact resistance. This makes 51CrV4 an alloy spring steel suitable for parts subject to stress, vibration and shock.

Chemical Composition:

Grade C Si Mn S P Cr Ni Cu V
51CrV4 0.47-0.55 0.4 0.70-1.10 0.03 0.03 0.90-1.20 0.35 0.25 0.10-0.25

Mechanical Properties:

Grade Tensile Strength Yield Strength Elongation Shrinkage Hardness
σb(MPa) σs(MPa) % % Hb
51CrV4 ≥1274(130) ≥1127(115)  ≥10 ≥40 ≤321

From the above table data, 51CRV4 steel has good mechanical properties and high hardenability, these can improve 51CRV4 steel particles, reduce sensitivity, improve strength and toughness. 51CRV4 steel has high fatigue strength, and the yield ratio is also high.

Processing and welding:
51CrV4 steel is easy to process from coarse pearlite to coarse spherical structure, and the machinability grade of 51CrV4 steel is 59; 51CrV4 steel can be welded, but preheating and post-weld stress relief must be carried out during welding, and welding of 51CRV4 steel should be carried out in the annealed state, not on quenched and tempered materials.
