Lateral performance characteristics of steel plate

In the hot-rolled steel plate, the mechanical properties of the steel plate in the rolling direction and the transverse direction are different, which is mainly caused by the difference in the transverse and longitudinal deformation of the steel plate.

During the rolling process, the longitudinal deformation is usually large: the length of the steel plate is usually more than 3 times the length of the billet. The transverse deformation of the steel plate is usually small: the hot-rolled steel plate is basically not widened, and most of the steel plates will become narrower under the action of lateral pressure and vertical bars; there is a certain widening in the medium and heavy plate, but the width ratio is usually less than 2.5.

The direction of the microstructure and texture in the steel plate is affected by the difference of transverse and longitudinal denaturation, resulting in the difference of transverse and longitudinal properties, and the better longitudinal properties. The closer the width ratio is to the longitudinal steel plate extension ratio, the smaller the difference in transverse and longitudinal properties is.
