American standard ASTM A36 steel is carbon structural steel with performance standards ASTM A36/A36M-03a which applies to bridges and buildings used for riveting, bolting and welding structure, general purpose structural etc.
ASTM A36 steel is the ordinary carbon steel, opposed to steel material Q235.
Q235 steel material has poor mechanical properties of materials compared with A36 and SS400 steel, but can substitute each of the three materials in actual operation, regardless of explicitly.
